Fall is almost here. Along with the cooler weather and autumn scenery, many of us are happy to welcome in a new season of football and the fanfare the sport brings.

Football offers marketing lessons that can be taken from the end zone to the office. Here are our tips to help you score a marketing touchdown this season.

Pull out the playbook

Before you hit the field, take some time to plan your plays. Outline a marketing plan detailing your goals and objectives for the season and the tools and tactics you’ll use to achieve them. Once you know what needs to be done, you’ll be able to draft a team with the skills you need. Another benefit of planning? A solidified plan not only helps you stay organized and on track, it will help make evaluation easier in the post-season.

Draft your dream team

Without a team, your marketing plan will never even hit the field. Who’s your team captain? Who’s your quarterback? Your marketing plan will let you know what skills are needed to make the plays, so you can assign players and tasks accordingly. The team roster will make your plan progress more efficiently and encourage accountability throughout the marketing process.

Use your time-outs

Huddle up! Once your plan is implemented and in place, take time to review its progress. Periodic check-ups will help you see what is and is not working. You may have to bench a few tactics if they’re not working so you can focus on the plan’s star players. Plus, time-outs are a great way to boost team morale.

Go for the conversion

Maybe you already have a solid marketing strategy in place. Why not go the extra mile and try something new? Adding different facets to your marketing plan can be beneficial in the long run. Try raising awareness for a new product release with a social media campaign or plan a giveaway or promotion to connect with your consumers. The extra effort may score your campaign the winning point!
